How To Apply

Our family medicine residency program is a participant in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) from the Association of American Medical Colleges. All applications must be submitted through ERAS.

Following recommendations from the Coalition for Physician Accountability and ACGME, we will be conducting only virtual interviews for the sixth year in a row. We understand that the virtual interview process presents unique challenges in your search for the right family medicine residency program. We are actively updating our website and communication processes to provide you with information about our program.  We also host both virtual and in-person open houses to meet residents and faculty throughout the interview season, in an informal setting that is not part of the evaluation process.  We want to work with you, so you can make the best decision possible.

We are committed to values of inclusion in our efforts to meet the educational needs of our residents and the clinical needs of our patients and communities. All applicants to UPMC St. Margaret Family Medicine Residency Program will undergo a comprehensive, holistic review process by our faculty, and those invited for interviews will be emailed an invitation by our recruitment coordinator. We will also be participating in the AAMC Preference Signaling initiative this year.

We will begin inviting applicants for interviews on October 3, 2025, and continue to accept applications until January 1, 2026. Our interview season runs from mid-October and will continue through January 31, 2025.

Due to the high volume of applications and inquiries, we are unable to comment individually on application eligibility or status.

We believe that you will find training at UPMC St. Margaret Family Medicine Residency Program challenging, transformative, and fun. We look forward to the opportunity of meeting with you!
